Privacy Policy

Last updated

This privacy policy explains how Off-Grid Vehicle Camping handles information when you use this site. We try to collect as little as possible and to use tools that do not require cookie banners or invasive tracking.

Who is responsible

The data controller for this site is Anders Johansson, operating Off-Grid Vehicle Camping as a private publisher from Sweden. For any privacy question, email hello@vehiclecampingguide.com.

What we collect

  • Analytics: we use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. Both are designed to be cookieless. They record aggregated page views, referrers, approximate location at the country or region level, device type, and Core Web Vitals (page-load timing metrics). They do not set tracking cookies and do not build a cross-site profile of you.
  • Server logs: our host (Vercel) keeps short-lived request logs that include IP address, user agent, and the requested URL. These are used for security and abuse prevention.
  • Email correspondence: if you email hello@vehiclecampingguide.com we receive your email address, name (if you provide it), and the message. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the exchange.

Cookies

Off-Grid Vehicle Camping does not set its own tracking cookies and does not run any advertising network on the site. Functional storage may be used briefly by your browser (for example to remember an open accordion section), but it is not used to identify you across visits.

Affiliate links and third parties

When you click an affiliate link and leave this site, the destination retailer (for example, Amazon) may set its own cookies to attribute your purchase. Those cookies are placed by the retailer on their domain, not by us, and they are governed by that retailer's privacy policy. The same applies to any external link you follow from this site.

Legal basis (EU and UK readers)

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the UK GDPR applies, our processing rests on the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interest for the cookieless analytics and server logs described above, because the data is aggregated and necessary to operate and improve the site.
  • Consent for anything that would actually identify you across visits. We do not currently run any such tracking. If that ever changes, we will add a consent mechanism before turning it on.
  • Contract or legitimate interest for handling email you send us, so we can reply and keep a record of the exchange.

Your rights

If you are in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar rules, you have the right to ask for access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@vehiclecampingguide.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Sweden, that is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY)).

Data retention

Aggregated analytics are retained according to the defaults of the analytics provider. Server access logs are short-lived (typically days to weeks). Email correspondence is kept for as long as it is useful for reference; you can ask for it to be deleted at any time.
